Yeah, newish communities are often SOL on FIOS. They're new enough that 
the telco saved a lot of money by using fiber trunks (so no DSL) but not 
new enough to have fiber to the home, and the telco has no incentive at 
all to lay new fiber. (Yours is probably buried, low maintenance, and 
only about a quarter depreciated.) 

(Hurray for 40 year old squirrel-gnawed overhead lines. :-)
