[Dclug] Dell offers linux on laptops

Wow. What a great experience. Ordered on 5/28, got it on 6/5, plugged it in, 
turned it on, and it worked. The only configuration was:

- create a username and password
- enter wireless encryption key
- enter email account info

What I got was:

- inspiron e1505 laptop
- 15 inch wide screen
- 512MB RAM
- nVIDIA GEForce 7300
- 80GB HD
- Ubuntu 7.04
- DVD +/- RW, dual-layer +R write capability
- integrated 802.11g wireless
- Dual core Centrino 1.73 GHz
- free shipping
- $200 off
- about $750 total

What I DIDN'T get was

- having to register my laptop with the authorities before it will do anything
- a dozen "free offers" that take an hour to get them all uninstalled
- a EULA that restricts what I can do with this laptop

It's a little new territory for me as I'm accustomed to Suse / KDE and this is 
ubuntu / Gnome, but I see it as more of an opportunity than a drawback. So 
far, I like what I see.
