>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaelic . . . but this page has some
coverage of the topic
I should say so. Taking hint from this this statement "Shelta
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelta> is sometimes counted as a Gaelic
or Goidelic language; however, while it is closely associated with Irish
it is not genetically related, being instead a cant
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cant_%28language%29> which has borrowed a
great volume of Irish vocabulary." I decided to follow up the link to
"cant", and from there to Rotwelsch, a German cant. There one finds
that these "travelers speech", like gang speak and commercial/traders
speak, is a characterized linguistic genre. "closely parallels the
commercial speech" and, for how it done, "has no terms for abstractions"
So this is all apropos this groups discussion, what with our concern
about commercial practices, the ethos. A more rationalistic approach to
commerce is to be had in the history of currency, for example coinage.
Currency is a standard. But we'll break it off here, let the topic
speak for itself. [if I'm reading these wiki articles correct Gaelic is
an IE language]
