[Dclug] Laptop suggestions solicited

I'm on Fedora 8 with my X61 and had to manually tweak my
/etc/modprobe.conf to get it to appropriately load alsa devices. This is
some other file/structure on Ubuntu, though. I don't recall what.

I now have three audio cards, and all except the pcmcia Echo Indigo load
at boot. The Indigo works, but only after booting, popping the card,
removing snd-indigo, then reinserting the card.

Also, the sound mute button works, but volume up/down don't. Haven't
gotten around to trying to configure them.
