[Dclug] Sideline Modules

I've got a case where I need to build and install a particular extra-kernel
module (I'm calling that sideline as opposed to mainline) every time I
upgrade my kernel. This machine runs Ubuntu 8.04 and I install all the
updates which regularly include a new kernel. Does anyone know of a slick
way to handle this automatically? Not knowing if it was what I wanted, I
briefly looked at module-assistant but it looks like you have to have a full
fledged deb source package. The module I'm installing is a CVS version of
the rt61 driver, which means if I don't get it installed I will be without
network connectivity after reboot.
