hi dclug community,

this prototype laptop foot charger is quite fascinating. i'd love to see this
paired with a low-power linux netbook.

this device is not yet on the market, but it might come to market soon, it
looks like.

it sure would be neat for users to be able to reduce the clock speed of the
computer to the needs of a particular application. for example, word processing
usually doesn't need much processing power, so it would be neat if a person
could reduce the clock speed of the processor when using less processor
demanding apps.

from what i understand, intel's atom processor requires 1/10 the energy of
the processors used in netbooks last year.

that's a step forward -- as is this foot charger.

              phil

"Wisdom starts with wonder." - Socrates

"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The
occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As
our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall
ourselves, and then we shall save our country." Abraham Lincoln (1862)
