Again, AFAIK, you can be fed with TCP/IP over CAT5 vs TCP/IP over coax [MOCA].
The only reason for the MOCA was:
a) ~~Everyone wanted|needed TCP/IP at their TV
b) It was too hard to get CAT5 there [ergo "It cost VZ $$$"] & there was
already coax.
Now I've heard that ?some/all of their settop boxes require TCP/IP, likely
for Big Brother and such, but people HAVE done this:
ONT====CAT5====real router====[Actiontech]---coax----STBox.
................\ \ \
................/ | \ - [Linux box c]
...........[lb a]..[lb b]
etc. BTW, this would let you sniff what VZ is doing.
The whole "add a UPS" approach is unneeded. Isn't there a 2nd battery input
on your ONT? IF so, go buy a deep cycle battery and put it there, with a $4
Harbor Freight trickle charger.
The only customer service Verizontal understands: is did your check clear?
