I went to the Picn*x picnic at Baylands Park a few years ago when I lived in
San Jose and I had a good time and met some interesting folks. Many people
brought their kids out and there were nerf footballs and toys for people to
mess around with, as well as hotdogs, waters, and other good eats that
people brought.

I think a few folks were doing some ham radio and they had a point to point
wireless connection which allowed them to provide wi-fi access and I think
there may have even been a mini installfest.

I'd also like to invite a couple other local groups in DC, HacDC and
DorkbotDC who have an active electronic hobbyist, maker, and artist
community (I've copied their mailing lists).

I hope that people find this idea interesting and enough can join to make it
a success. I think it's also worth considering the use of a parks and
recreation facility/land, unless that's what Jay had in mind or he has some
huge mansion tucked in the hills of Arlington. :)

All the best,
Eric
