I supplied the backdrop last year and I should be able to borrow it again this year.

I also run the wiki that we have been using. The url is:

The password to update the pages is "fose2005". I updated it for 2007 but don't know if everything is right - feel free to edit at will.

I wanted to take this time to let you all know that once again Tux.org
will have a booth at FOSE this year (March 19-22nd, www.fose.com). I'm
taking care of making arrangements for our presence this year, and
wanted to get the ball rolling. I plan on updating the website this
week with links to FOSE and some more information about our presence
there, but I'm looking for some assistance with a couple of other tasks.
Our booth number is 1063 and we are located in the rear of the show
across from the radio booth. We have a corner booth this year which is
nice.

There are a few things we could use to help maintain our professional
look at the show, and I was hoping some of you could assist in tracking
them down. So here goes:

1. Live/Install DVD/CDs - I'm looking for someone who is willing to
contact and try to arrange free DVD/CDs for us to give away at the
booth. Last year we had a large number of Ubuntu and OpenSUSE disks,
and it would be great to have those again. The only catch is they need
to be Free (as in cost) distributions only. If you can download the
exact same version online for free then it's good to go. We are dealing
with Gov't types and their could be issues with anything that has a
substantial monetary value to it (Like giving away free RHEL or SUSE
Enterprise, etc..). Distros I'd like to see would be Ubuntu, OpenSUSE
and Fedora Core. Live versions would be best.

2. Backboard - Last year we had a very professional backboard display,
and I can't remember who provided that, sorry. If you are still on the
list, and have access to it that would be great if you were willing to
loan it again. If not, does anyone else have access to something
similar? I'll see if I can find some pictures of what I'm talking
about.

3. Demo Computers - Last year Dell loaned us some computers to use to
demo SUSE Linux on. I'd like to do something similar this year as well.
I've got a contact for Dell who I'll be getting in touch with, but I'm
open to other hardware as well. I do request that it be new and glitzy
(or at least fast), I think that would impress the most.

4. Load in Volunteers - I'll need help getting all this equipment in
and setup the day before the show. We learned last year that we pretty
much have to hand carry everything in our selves. The load in union
will not allow us to use carts to bring in our own stuff. We have to
carry it from the upstairs to the show floor. We are most likely going
to have several thousand issues of Magazines and hopefully lots of free
disks to carry besides the demo computers and backboard. Six or more
volunteers for this would be great. This will most likely be on Monday
March 19th, still waiting on exact times.

5. Show volunteers - Last year we had great support through those who
volunteered to staff the booth during the show. I'm hoping we can get
the same turn out this year. I'm hoping to have at least three people
at all times during the show. Here are the hours:

Tuesday March 20th: 9am - 4:30pm
Wednesday March 21st: 9am -4:30pm
Thursday March 22nd: 9am - 6:00pm (pack up afternoon)

I'm hoping we can get a twiki setup like last year for people to sign
up. Until then you can volunteer by just responding to this email.

We are already in contact with Linux Journal and Linux Magazine (thanks
Pete!) to arrange for magazines to giveaway.

Anyone else have any ideas, or willing to take the lead on anything I've
mentioned here?

Thanks,
David
