Dear ex-FOSE colleagues,
I think you all should see this. I am grateful to David for
having sent this to arrive early enough this morning to spare
me a Metro ride down to the Convention Center.
Best wishes to all, and, to David, "respectfully"
Alan

Hello Alan,
I didn't have time to speak to you this morning about this, and after
thinking bout it all day it needs to be said. To say I was
disappointed in your attire would be putting it mildly. Though I
knew you would not be wearing one of our "Army" outfits, your attire
was inappropriate today. I believe it showed disrespect to me and to
what Tux.org is trying to accomplish, and that's getting OpenSource
into the door of the Government. If you feel that you can not dress
more appropriately (business casual would be the minimum) then please
do not come as a representative of Tux.org. We can get you a free
pass for the FOSE show (you can register as an individual at
www.fose.com and use the priority code FTAE7). You are welcome to
hang out around the booth, but I do not think it is appropriate for
you to represent Tux.org as dressed today.
If I hadn't been on a very tight schedule this morning I would have
spoken to you about this in person, and I apologize that it had to be
done over email. In my opinion doing this over email is almost as
disrespectful as your attire today.
Finally do NOT wear the "impeach" whomever badge while wearing a
Tux.org labeled badge. We are NOT at FOSE representing a political
side, and that is absolutely unwanted in relation to our goals at
FOSE. I just hope you had the common sense NOT to show that to
ANYONE at the show that was a visitor to our booth or any other
function were you may have been wearing the badge with Tux.org on it.
I'm absolutely dumbfounded that you could even have though your
attire was appropriate for this event as a representative of Tux.org,
and this really was an insult to me that you showed up like that.
Disappointed beyond believe,
David
PS. This was sent to you off list as a courtesy to you, this can
remain between you and me or otherwise, it is your call. I have no
problem defending my actions on this.
