The older versions did not use yum for doing depsolving, so they could
ask for multiple CDs. AFAIK yum requires a monolithic set of metadata
for a repository, which is why most people use DVDs for installing
nowadays. The only advice I can give you is -- if you can't copy the
packages to the server because of lack of space -- either make a DVD and
use that, or if you have no DVD drive, copy the packages to a large USB
flash or hard disk, and use that. Unfortunately you're in sort of a
corner case -- a server with apparently limited space, with no DVD drive
and no Internet connection. I'll check around to see if I can find any
better answers, since there may very well be one.
