[FredLUG] Linux use in the real world ...

I just came back from a meeting with some great folks at Mosaic -
http://www.mosaicdyns.com/. 
What these guys do is impressive - but what's even more impressive is
the platform. This video management and analytics was running 100% on
Fedora. mySQL backend for video storage - including high end analytic
data for video. All using - with one exception - public codexs. Perl
backend libraries and TK as a front-end. It was a work of beauty. If it
wasn't for the CPU meter in the task bar, and the distinct Gnome look on
the windows, I wouldn't have asked :)

Open standards are enabling great tools to be build like this. And yes,
this is an end-user application (and a bunch of servers for large
installations). 

I know it's commercial - and I'm not in their pocket or anything. But I
get excited to know that the ideas of OSS is enabling people all around
the world to produce high-end stuff like this.
