No no, the mouse is definitely detected. With a lot of patience and a
lot more patience, I can detect where the mouse is and run the Live
USB well enough to install, which I have.

The issues now are twofold:
1. The pointer still does not display.
2. I can't run X unless I'm using the USB, though it's installed on my
hard drive. As those of you who met me on Saturday saw, I must have
missed something fundamental in my learning how to manipulate these
machines called computers - so I'm going to be full of questions
regarding just getting it up and running. And then everything else
after that.

I will continue to tinker with it, but I'll probably need some help.
Thanks, guys.
