SFD 2008 progress

So hopefully most of you have either visited the F'burg.com site, or
seen the SFD/FOSS article in today's paper. I spent quite a bit of
time on that interview over the last few days. Thanks to Chris for
helping set that up!

I went out yesterday and today to distribute posters and literature.
There weren't many places that would accept free discs to give away to
their customers or patrons, except for the library -- where we'll
probably just leave leftovers after the event -- and Borders. The
people at Hyperion, who I thought would be really hip to what we're
doing, were extremely standoffish, almost rude, *both* times I was
there. That sort of killed my desire to go there for coffee in the
future.

Some very cool places were the Wounded Bookstore, the Virginia Wine
Experience, the F'burg tour office, and the coffee bar/candy
shop/bakery that's a ways down the street near where that tapas place
used to be (sorry, can't recall the name now). Borders was a little
skittish at first (MUST. STAY. INSIDE. CORPORATE. LINES.), but
ultimately were cool and let me leave some discs and stuff there for
their customers and staff. All the close computer stores I used to
know -- IC at Central Park, and the mom-n-pop on Rt. 3 near I-95 --
are gone.

If anyone wants to distribute some more posters for the event, I've
uploaded the 8x10 and the 11x17 versions I made to our Google Group
file page:

If you don't want to pay for anything out of pocket, and you want to
distribute some of the posters I have left, get in touch and I'll
figure out a way for you to pick it up from my wife while I'm gone
next week. Also, if you're making some discs for the event and need
to drop them off because you can't be there, I'll arrange that with
her as well. Get in touch!

Paul
