Hi Peter and Everyone, since I am late to the discussion, and everyone
has suggested Dell in some way shape or form, I am going to take it
one step further and state which ones. I would recommend the Precision
Line available in the 14 -15 and 17 '' flavors, I know for a fact that
these can accept up to 8 GB of memory and the other added bonus, these
have the 3 year warranty vice the 1 year hitch that the inspiron (read
consumer) line is offering up. Just watch which screen display you
seek, there are a couple that are not very strong. They all have up to
512MB video and should be able to handle OpenGL, As far as running
Linux on it, I think that Micheal Dell was running Linux on an M90
some time ago.
Just my two pennies worth.
