That is a copy of a file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-busted-x2gen.conf on
one of my home boxes. The 22" X2Gen monitor attached to it doesn't
respond correctly to Xorg probes with its EDID information, meaning
that Xorg can't tell what its available modes are.

I retrieved the information in the Modeline from online reference
documentation from the manufacturer. You may be able to find the same
for your laptop or LCD monitor. While I can't take responsibility for
anything you might try, if all else fails you may be able to find a
good generic fallback modeline for a display at the same resolution as
yours.

Note that your file must sit in the same folder, and end in ".conf" to
be recognized by Xorg when the server starts.
