I don't think it's shady. I've looked through the blog and website and they
seem genuine.
I think they're just trying to make connections in the local area that are
somewhat related to their interests.

We might want to ask them to sign up with their own email addresses instead
of the main account though.

But, I don't see why is seems shady to the rest of you guys. Are you just
not familiar with the "hacker space" scene? Or are you guys just put off
by the moniker of "hacker"?
I read http://hackaday.com/ and http://blog.makezine.com/ every day and
they're full of nifty "hacks" using Ardunios or other microprocessors and
often using Linux. The 3D Printers and Microsoft Kinect hacks are the two
biggest "news makers" I can think of...

Anyway, It's nice to see a "hacker space" pop up around here. I've been
wondering why we don't have a "hacker space" in Fredericksburg, even though
they aren't really "in" Fredericksburg.

If you want, I'll go check them out. Not that I have much time on the
weekends to even go to the LUG meetings... But it seems relevant to my
interests :D
