SR. UNIX (Solaris) SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR  working at Ft. Belvoir, VA

Requires a Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance (TS/SSBI)

Candidate will serve as a Senior Unix System Administrator. The Sr. UNIX
Systems Administrator will be responsible for the implementation,
maintenance, support and security of classified and unclassified UNIX
(primarily Sun Solaris 9) systems. He/she shall provide a full range of
UNIX Systems Administration services including web servers, mail
servers, DNS servers, LDAP servers, database servers and servers running
specialized applications. Must have senior level experience with SSH,
audit logging, backup and recovery, Windows/UNIX connectivity, access
control, installation procedures, security administration, process
management, TCP/IP networking, naming services and Solaris Volume
Manager (Disksuite)configuration. Candidate must write clear and concise
documentation for server operation, configuration and maintenance.

Duties include:
 Establishing operational policies and monitoring procedures for Solaris
servers; 
 Ensuring security patch compliance and maintaining DISA STIG
compliance;
 Monitoring server performance and proactively correcting discrepancies;
 Analyze trends in system utilization to predict future growth for
capacity planning purposes;
 Research new technologies and products related to UNIX servers.
 Direct the UNIX team as it performs routine tasks such as:
    Creating and deleting user accounts;
    Transferring data between servers;
    Operating routine services such as, web sites (Sun One Web Server),
databases (Oracle), LDAP, DNS, sendmail, Sun Ray thin clients;
    Creating and testing field accounts and troubleshooting user
problems;
    Monitoring access to systems in order to ensure data security and
integrity;
    Installing and configuring utilities that assist the team in
managing the systems;
    Maintaining and updating system software;
    Operating Veritas NetBackup;  
    Identifying system improvements and implementing with approval of
the operations manager.

A minimum of 4 years UNIX administration experience and experience
focused on Solaris. Must have leadership experience and understand
enterprise management. Ability to use standard UNIX performance tools to
analyze system performance. Excellent interpersonal communication and
organizational skills with the ability to interact well with all levels
of personnel. Outstanding analytical skills related to solving complex
system problems in time-critical situations. Must be able to work on
complex projects, work well under pressure and accept shared team
responsibilities. Must possess outstanding customer service skills.
