Speaking of jobs there is an opportunity at the Library of Congress
(DC) for a Linux (Gentoo/Ubuntu) and Solaris systems administrator.
Anyone interested in the challenges of long term storage and
preservation of large amounts of heterogeneous data is encouraged to
apply.
Qualified candidates will have experience with (or interest in
learning about) lvm, xserve, zfs, zones, and xen. Experience with a
dynamic language (python, perl, ruby, etc) is also desirable. This job
also involves working with external groups to design storage
solutions and to plan for future growth. So we're looking for more
than just an sysadmin, but someone with a genuine interest in large
scale storage systems.
This isn't your typical government job as we are running a software
development lab within the Library of Congress to experiment with
various open source repository systems. You would be considered a
member of this informal team and encouraged to learn, contribute,
innovate and grow.
If this sounds interesting please feel free to contact me privately
via email. I can give you more details since I am a software
developer in this team.
Thanks!
Ed Summers
