Unfortunately the partition table is a tricky business, because it implicitly depends
on the disk geometry: it is not enough to specify partition boundaries in term of
LBA sectors---the CHS (cylinder/head/sector) values must fit too.
I had good luck with gpart, the partition table guesser/recovery tool:
