[Ma-linux] A Suggestion about our E-lists for Tux.Org people, and for us all

First, there is a simple procmail rule that *everyone* should use:

.procmailrc
# Gets rid of dups!
#
:0 Wh: msgid.lock
| formail -D 8192 msgid.cache

Next is the reason these lists exist.

At one time there was a relationship between the lists. It doesn't
exist anymore.

novalug, dclug, fredlug and the rest are separate lists that have
nothing to do with each other than they are LUG lists.

ma-linux was at one time maintained as the merge of novalug and dclug.
That is NO longer the case and there are more lugs these days.

Here is what I do:

novalug is my local coffee shop, corner store, etc. I ask questions
and try to be very helpful.

*lug are other lugs where I might join the list and respond if I have
something if interest to add if nobody else has been helpful.

ma-linux is sorta the town or even state level group where I attend to
listen and learn and maybe add color. It is not where I go first
(sorry) and is more of a backup that 'just is'.

cc'ing lists here is no different than cc'ing debian, ubuntu and
mythtv for a myth question. Different people on each list and I want
to cover all my basese. NOW, if that is acceptable or a good idea is a
DIFFERNT question, not for this thread.

Now, if there is an INTEREST in some hierarchy I would propose that
there are all the lugs at the bottom and ma-linux is an 'umbrella'
(whatever that means). There is no other relationship. Each LUG is a
standalone.

That is my 2cents.

IF there is an outcry to change ma-linux to an umbrella, I can try to
do that.

I rather educate the posters to use the appropriate list and if ppl
are on multiple lists, they need to manage their mail accordingly (see
procmailrc at the start)

Thanks for listening/reading
