   It's a two edged sword.  I know a lot of programmers have artistic 
   talent, but do you remember what the old GNU pages looked like?  
   Something like this:  http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/selling.html only 

Funny you should mention this page---I opened it and I could start
reading it right away, in a simple, readable font rather than some
tiny 800x600 compatible crumbs, displaying the full content rather
than a short rivulet of text in the sea of advertisements and
menus. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
