[Ma-linux] OpenSuse 10.2 box locked up, had to reboot to clear

OK,

Both of my APCUPSD slave boxes reported lost comms with the Master controller,
in this case my email server.

The box would not respond to pings, and I couldn't get a working display via
KVM switch.

So, I figured it went tits up. Rebooted it. Nothing in my log files shows any
problems, but maybe I'm not looking in the right file.

Looked in /var/log/messages, nothing showing problem around suspected timeframe.

Any ideas on what else to look for?  I will post several ideas for review in a
few minutes.
