Serge,

I've only been involved with Tux.Org for a short time now, so please
consider this reply as a request for more information on what you speak of.

You mention that the mail misrepresents what Tux.Org stands for as you
were one of the founders. What was its stated purpose in 1996? And where
do you think the present direction of the organization has strayed?

As for the volunteers and mistakes of the past, please consider we are
all human. And as such we are prone to mistakes, as well has being
overtaxed and exhausted, and our volunteer work often takes a back seat.
Technicalities can explain the fund issue and the server issue, but it
really all boils down to volunteers who ran out of time to help, and so
a bad situation was made worse when we became dependent not on the
function of the job, but the volunteer holder of the job. And that is a
bad situation to be in. As for being turned down, volunteers are often
turned down not because help is not needed, but help is never truly
altruistic, and so the weight of the help must be weighed against other
factors and unwelcome influences, and the end result sometimes means
declining the assistance. I am a member of many non profits both
computer and non computer related, and this occurs very often. Too often
for my liking, but such is life.

So if you have a few moments, share what you think Tux.Org should be
doing. Where should it be going? And without rehashing the mistakes of
the past, where should it not be going?

PS - I am not a board member, nor a holder of any position in a metro DC
area lug. I am simply a fervent supporter of free software and a general
Linux nut.
