[Ma-linux] Please Help: Ubuntu Graphical Login Fails

Angelo -

Yes, I get the graphical login screen.  I wasn't sure if that was
using X or some lower level graphics subsystem (if there is such a
thing on a Unix system).

I have Kubuntu as my default login manager.  From that login screen I
can choose to start Gnome or KDE.  Should I try changing the login
manager to Gnome?  If so, how do I do it (in a text console)?
