Jay,

Have you ever considered picking up a Unix book?

Even if you'd type "files directories unix" into Google, you'd find the
answer.

You ask a lot of questions, but you've been using Linux for at least two
years.

A person who is completely new to the operating system would certainly
be excused for not knowing certain details, but even in those cases, I'd
point them to a basic instructional text.

Since you've used the OS for so long, I feel that by not taking these
steps first, you're being rude. You're pushing the responsibility of
looking up the information you need to a group of people rather than
opening a book or typing a few words into Google.
