Hi Everyone,
  I'll be following the responses to the benchmarking question with
interest. I'm in the processing of setting up a Sun server with 64G
that will run Oracle databases and make use of Solid State Disk
drives.

BTW, I have run Oracle on Intel/Linux and Sparc - and my meager
experience has led me to believe that it runs just a bit better on
Sparc. But I would absolutely love to see solid TPC benchmarks
comparing Oracle/Linux to Oracle/Sparc on similarly configured
hardware.

Years ago I did a lot of work on Vaxes - it seems to me that there
were better independent/3rd party  benchmarking data available back
then than there is now. Does anyone know of solid/independent
benchmarking that compares Intel/Linux and Sparc/Solaris for Oracle?
