All,
I recently tried installing Suse Linux 11.3 on my desktop. The desktop has two hard drives. One, 27 GB in size, is the drive from an older computer that I was using as my primary simply because it was easier to use that one than incorporate the new one into the system. I installed Suse Linux 11.3 on the larger 180 MB hard drive because I decided it is time to start using the larger drive because of all the photography I am doing. When you shoot 1000 photographs of a performance and take up over 4 GB of space for just one shoot, moving to the larger drive seemed sensible.
Here are some problems I am encountering. First, the new installation will not boot normally. I can bring up 11.3 in failsafe mode. Things seem to work for the most part in this mode. What isn't working is the network card that allows me to reach the Internet and attempts to redefine the monitor so that the window is the same size as the monitor. Currently it spills over a bit onto the left and right sides.
Any advice? Offers of help?
Yes, I have backed up important things from the 27 GB drive onto a DVD.
Best,
Chuck Divine
