I usually do that as well. I ran into too many problems that way, so, in frustration, I tried a new install on the larger disk -- after a backup of important files, of course.

Here's the output:
chuckdivine at linux-488b:~> dmesg | grep -i error
[ 0.423091] pcie_pme: probe of 0000:00:02.0:pcie01 failed with error -13

Agreed.

chuckdivine at linux-488b:~> man mkinti No manual entry for mkintird

The computer is a Compaq Presario SR2030NX. When I check out the boot devices, I get the following information:
HDD Group
1st Master Maxtor 6E030L0
3rd Master SAMSUNG SP2004C
CD-ROM Group
2nd Master TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652L
I did use YAST to get hardware info. That file is over 500K. though.
The most important thing to get working is, of course, the basic system. Then I need to get networking up and running.
I do run Ubuntu on this laptop. It is currently version 11.04. I ran into problems with an old Ubuntu disk I originally used a few years ago. I actually found the Ubuntu disk at a Best Buy when I was wandering through there shopping for some CDs.
Thanks for your help!
Best,
Chuck Divine
