Followup:

Basically, followed the process as shown in the link below.

http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/centos-netinstall-network-installation/

Good news is I "have" a working CentOS box, but can't update it. Let me tell
you what I mean by this.

Towards the bottom of the above tutorial is a step to "Select packages for
Installation", with a screen shot shown. At this stage of my install I got a
"couldn't get tree" error so no groups shown, the install app had a "reboot"
option (only I think), so I selected it, figured I'd start over.

Next thing I know the partitions are being formatted and the setup then moves
on to installing packages. A total of 99 packages are installed, about 272MB
worth iirc.

Reboot box and it comes up to a login prompt. No errors that I can find have
been reported via the logs. Ok, looks good so far.

I do not have yum, anaconda, X, installed, and even some basic commands like
'which' are not installed.

I'm pretty sure I can fix this if I can determine some way to start installing
packages, I believe gzip was installed so maybe I just need to try to get
packages installed using this util and get enough functionality to complete
the install.

OR, I can start from scratch.
