Have you tried to load Windows 2000 or XP?
Since I know for a fact that 2000 and XP will run on shitty hardware (Dells
for example), this might tell you something.
So, here is what you do:
1. download and burn memtest86 to a disk and make a bootable CD. This tests
your memory. Well, it tests your computers memory, really.
2. Boot the CD. If it boots and runs the app, then let it run for like two days.
3. Any errors, get new memory.
This simple process has always worked well for me in the past.
