[Novalug] The Puzzle Continues

I identified my previous problem as a bad MB and replaced it so I was
able to install SuSE 10.1. (Yes, I paid for it thereby helping to keep
some of our LUGgers employed.)

This is a 64 bit machine - AMD processor and Asus MB. I did have one
problem in the installation that I have run into before. After the
initial installation, when it boot from the HD for the first time, it
hung. SuSE provides a solution. Start the installation again. About
three screens in, there's a box marked "Other". Click it and an option
comes up to boot the installed system.

That worked. I completed the installation and everything worked fine
after that.

Then I added another drive.

The boot problem came back. I can still get it to boot by using the
installation disk, but that doesn't fix the problem. Obviously I've got
a problem with the boot record, but I'm stumped. What do I need to look
at and why would adding a second drive cause this problem?

I've checked the settings in the BIOS. It does point to the proper drive
and, in fact, that drive light does come on at the proper time.
