Man, I could not agree with you more. I suspect there will be a
tangential discussion off this - but don't force someone to use
something they are hesitant/reluctant to use/try. OSS/FLOSS should be
enticing to use. If you want to help the community, use the programs.
Point where flaws exist. Advocate to new users that, while there will
be differences, these should be minor and more based on what was learned
with other programs. I equate this to driving the old SAAB's (I had a
900S). These had the iginition switch at the base of the stick shift.
It took a little getting used to but it drove just like every other car.
Its simply had its special "quirks." OSS/FLOSS applications are just
the same. Each is similar to more popular applications - just some
nuances. Some folks will call these problems - others will call them
features!
<Big Man (not old fart!) pleading for compassion> But please ...
please .... PLEASE ... don't tell my son I wrote that! He'll equate
what I wrote to justify an Xbox 360!!! And I don't think my arthritis
can handle THAT in the house!! I'd rather WII around the living
room!!</Big Man (not old fart!) pleading for compassion>
As an aside ... I do wish to point out that the NOVALUG mail list is
back up operational. I cc'd that list as opposed to the GoogleGroups.

Remember, all Windows machines are, by definition, fault tolerant.
They run Windows don't they!!
