As they say, there is more than one way to do things.
if you are running in a terminal you can use copy to copy the word sudo to
the clipboard and then just paste it in front of any command.
in addition in the terminal on my set up the uparrow brings the previous
command back to the command line. so if you are mounting a series of
partitions you up arrow and then use the left arrow to back over the
command and change partition id or whatever. This of course also means
that you do not have to keep typing sudo. You can also type sudo
gnome-terminal in from the command line and then you will have a
superuser terminal and do not have to type sudo in front of
commands.
Also in Ubuntu I have found that invoking sudo once in a terminal gives
you some sort of action window where subsequent commands needing root do
not have to have sudo for a while.
