I just got an iPod Shuffle 1GB (gift from friends) and I used both
rhythmbox and gtkpod successfully with it on Fedora Core 6.  With
rhythmbox, I just used the plugins menu to enable ipod support and
everything just worked.  Under gtkpod I had to do some minimal
configuration, like pointing the repository to the HAL-mounted directory
for my iPod.
