Not to nitpick, but I think it is necessary to clarify that you can
run 32-bit operating systems on a 64-bit *extended* processor. Some
examples of processors with a IA32 legacy mode would be the AMD Athlon
64, AMD Turion 64, some models of Intel Xeon and the Intel Core 2. This
technology is called "AMD64" or "x86-64" by the AMD folks, and "EM64T"
by the Intel folks.
To my knowledge, TRUE 64-bit processors, like the Intel Itanium2,
cannot run 32-bit operating systems. (It can run 32-bit applications in
an emulation layer, but that is not the same thing.)
