In about 30 minutes, a determined individual probably can:
- Identify your network with or without SSID broadcasting enabled,
- Break WEP, and
- Identify and clone a legitimate MAC address for your network
All this said, it takes a determined individual and you have to be the most
interesting target on the street. If your neighbor has an open access
point, you probably won't receive this attention.
wpa_supplicant w/wpa_gui (http://hostap.epitest.fi/wpa_supplicant/) has a
GUI which may help you configure WPA networks. I wouldn't exactly call it
linux newbie friendly, but it can be a good resource for configuring
Wireless networks.
