[Novalug] How much power is enough?

Simple question, I hope.  Suppose one were shopping for a new
computer.  First question to ask is, what does one want to do
with said computer.  This suggests the power needed.  My
question is, what is the greediest applications to be considered?

Recently, HDTV recording/playback was discussed.  Is this the
greediest app?  Or would it be a game, such as WOW?

I understand the difference between just pulling HDTV out of the air
and displaying it, vs recording/playbacking.  Playback is what I'd
want, personally.
