I eventually did. I gave up trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Basically, the system performance was so miserable and there was so much
cruft on the system it was easier to burn it down and start over.

They should and they basically don't.  (My daughter was SO PROUD she learned
how to defeat the FCPS web filtering sw when another kid told her about
annonymizer web proxies.  I told her she was lucky she hadn't lost school PC
priviliges for the rest of the year and partial home priviliges beyond
several days of IM.)

I think they should teach genetic algorithms.  After all, they were
"created" <heh>.
