Sure, but it goes back to what Russell said:  who is doing the work to keep those plugins available for the newer kernels?  Some of them may be easy and require nominal work, but it seems to me that the stuff that you find "doesn't work" is just the stuff that has the least interest in the community.  This goes for old and newer stuff.
