I think it's true. None of the guidelines I saw before specifically
mentioned Sharpie, but I think the point is that some of the inks are
not good. Well... at least I think it's true for CD's since the side
you write on is just the reflective lining. I've noticed that DVD's I
have are plastic on both sides.
But if it is true, it probably just reduces the average lifespan of your
CD from 25 years to 20 years or something like that.
