Kevin,
I can only speak to the pcHDTV5500 as I have it after upgrading from
a PVR-250. The pcHDTV works great. However the documentation, I find,
is lacking. I didn't feel a need for both cards because in theory
the atsc and ntsc programming should be the same.
The thing I wish I knew then that I know now is that you really need
a nvidia card to play back hdtv, and a little bit beefier processor.
I think it's recommended to have dual core if you frontend and backend
are the same machine. I do believe some people have gotten a
remote working with the pcHDTV and you can scan through their message
board to see how they did it.
