Wow. If a mechanic ever said "I change oil as part of my career but I
couldn't even tell you how many quarts the average vehicle uses, no less my
own car," I don't think he'd be my mechanic anymore.

Proves once again that just because a person works in IT doesn't mean they
know anything about IT.
