Currently connected by USB to a system running Debian Sarge.
I also had it connected to my Xubuntu 7.04 system as a test as I plan on
replacing the older NOISY Debian system.

Cupsys was easy to configure to use it.
 Just install the "foomatic-db-hpijs" package and it will bring all the
other dependent packages.

Sane has had support for a long time now.

Just find as far as I'm concern.

Yes, even a few that I never use {ie the Panel buttons} work.

Maybe you should first describe what you are really looking for.
Since I've had my printer since about 2001 or so.
