[Novalug] check printing software for linux?

Ok Jay -- rethink it this way --

Checks are simply a template for a specific layout on paper. It's just a
matter of what level of effort you want to go through, to set it up. I'm
pretty sure VersaCheck makes software for Linux, but it might be easier to
putz around with the templating functionality inside OpenOffice and set it
up in there. The VersaCheck solution is really only cost effective if you
do high volumes of checks. The cost of the software would exceed what it
would cost to buy 150 checks that would last 6 years.

A free native solution is generally "sit down with some kind of word
processing software" and make it work with the check paper. I looked at it,
and in the end up just bought checks. If it's a big issue, check the
millions of "check printers" that don't go through a bank and charge less.
