(1)You will need a Computer to load TrixBox or FreePBX onto something
that has maybe 512k mem and is at least an Athalon 1.8ghz for good
results. Probably a monitor and keyboard temporarily as you can remote
manage it after install.

(2)Then you will need a device like the PAP2-NA which basically will
connect to the asterisk machine and become an extension... Then you can
tie all your phones in the house to this box.... its about 69 - 99
dollars depending on where you look. a good place to buy is
telephonydepot.com

(3)Then you will need a cheap SIP phone provider.... there is one that
is a prepay that i think is the best.. Vitelity.net You set an account
up and put some money in there not sure of the miniumum maybe 30 or 50
bucks... but all that will stay in your account.... a did will run about
1.49 a month and minutes will be about 1 penny a minute. you will
then tie asterisk to that service. that will give you a phone number as
well you can port the phone number you currently have to vitelity and
get a temp number until the port is complete.

if you need to know more a good site to visit is voip-info.org
