 	Wow! And also yow! The thing is a powerhouse. And the 
Properties option, if I right click it in /usr/bin, says it has 
only 34.0 KB! Most of that must be calls to other bigger things, 
surely??

 	Also bewildered looks. Finding no icon anywhere, I 
launched it :

[btth at topblack ~]$ kate &
[1] 18951

 	(At that point it appeared. I moused around a while, then 
closed it with file > quit.)

[btth at topblack ~]$ kbuildsycoca running...
QFile::open: No file name specified

 	(I hit ^C.)

[1]+  Done                    kate
[btth at topblack ~]$ ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), 
pid = 19012, errno = 11

 	(The terminal tab still offered no prompt. I whacked it 
again, and *then* it gave me my prompt back.)

 	I feel like a sorcerer's apprentice.
