Let's put into the mix that some of us -- I plead guilty --
have no hesitation in revising and extending the Subject,
so that "threading" can become discombobulated.
(Is not E-mail properly like a conversation? can one make rules? can
one enforce said rules? Perhaps we should all read Castiglione or
Lord Chesterfield, thus developing exquisite conversational manners?
The comfort is: the inverse of Gresham's Law obtains. More attention
will be paid to the person who E-mails with consideration and thought)
And indenting the new material, as opposed to the quoted material from
the previous message makes things much much harder to read.
