Smaller, younger companies aren't burdened by the dead hand of a corporate culture yet. They do things in ways that work for them, not necessarily because that's the way their predecessors did them.
I work for attorneys that continue to practice in substantially the same way that they did back when they first entered the profession in the Nixon administration. Their methods persist because *they* persist.
Then again: those old farts do pay decent wages.
