I don't think that's what was meant. I've used dban before; it overwrites 
from the first sector, all the way through, much like using dd on the 
disk, but using various data patterns, and it's self-contained as a 
bootable CD/device.

The warning is a valid one since if you just want to wipe one partition 
and keep others intact, this is not the right tool to use.
